School Governing Council By: Ed Sumapig

The School Governing Council officers of Juan S. Tismo National High School, Babatngon, Leyte, Philippines were inducted into their particular offices on December 11, 2009 at the JICA Science Lab room by Hon. Mayor Charita Montaño-Chan, the Chairperson of the Municipal School Board.
It may be informed that the School governing council is a multi-sectoral representation, organized within the context of School Based Management in order to attain the school’s vision and mission. Its purposes and limitations are defined under its newly ratified constitution and by-laws. Generally, it is anchored on shared governance, accountability, and responsibility.

The ceremony was simple but well attended by the students, teachers, and other members of the school community. It was also witnessed by our co-teacher, a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer, Selena Evelyn Barlow and her husband Peter Barlow.
The induction of officers was hosted by teacher Ma. Nelly L. Peñaranda.
